Mlevu Rhino Camp – Learn, Help, Enjoy!

There is now a once in a lifetime opportunity for you or your guests coming to stay with Imvelo to add on a few days and move to the new Mlevu Rhino Camp to truly discover, the real wild Zimbabwe by volunteering your time to learn first-hand what community-based conservation means and help implement some programmes on the ground! You will learn about the complexities involved in balancing conservation and community needs and contribute to local efforts that support both people and wildlife.

The Mlevu Rhino Camp is located within our second community rhino conservation sanctuary. The camp is rustic but comfortable –firewood stoves for cooking, a campfire area for evening meals, hot showers and flush toilets. It has shared communal areas and either chalets or tents with ensuite bathrooms to choose from.

The camp is in a wooded area at the heart of Mlevu community rhino sanctuary, so there are opportunities to see birds, rhinos and elephants and in your leisure time to enjoy game drives in the park nearby. There is unlimited WIFI and three meals are provided as well as juice, teas and coffees.

One can come spend a few days or a few weeks depending on what your guests want to get out of the experience. The Imvelo team have put together an explanatory 1 pager website – which can be found here and will put the meat on the bones in terms of the variety of activities guests could be part of – every day will be an epic and rewarding adventure. Vounteer with us at Mlevu Rhino Camp.

I sat down with owner and MD Mark Butcher recently and had an insightful chat with him about this bold initiative to really give guests the opportunity to do more and be the boots on the ground for a while – listen below to the ‘summary’ chat and the full presentation deck can be found on my You Tube video link here –
Mark Butcher discusses new ways Imvelo are connecting people with nature and wildlife.

Gem Tip: We all want to do our bit to give back when planning once in a lifetime trips for our valued guests, to ensure they feel the trip left an indeliable mark on them. By supporting the Imvelo camps, not only are you offering your guests all they would be yearning for in terms of exclusivity, one of a kind activities to enjoy on safari, some of the best guiding in Africa and some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa but you are doing more than just a little to give back – you are making a huge difference as it allows Imvelo to pour more of their cup into so many worthwhile projects that support our precious wildlife and the people we need to ensure will look after it long after we are gone.
